Practical tools for image location and metadata
GM GeoTag is a browser-based utility for people who need to inspect, add, edit or remove image metadata without sending the image itself to a dedicated GM GeoTag processing server.
What GM GeoTag provides
The site brings several related image utilities into one interface: image geotagging, EXIF viewing, supported EXIF editing, metadata removal and bulk JPEG geotagging. Each tool explains the formats and fields it supports before the user downloads an output file.
How the processing model works
For the core workflows, image bytes are handled in the visitor's browser. The application reads metadata locally, lets the visitor choose coordinates, generates a JPEG where supported, and reads the generated file again to verify the GPS values before download. Map tiles, geocoding and optional place search are separate network services and are described in the Privacy Policy.
Why verification is included
Metadata can be lost or changed when images move between editors, messaging platforms and publishing systems. GM GeoTag therefore does not treat a successful file generation step as proof that GPS metadata was written correctly. The supported geotagging workflow reads the generated JPEG again and compares the stored coordinates with the coordinates selected by the user.
Supported formats
JPG and JPEG are the primary formats for embedded GPS EXIF writing. PNG and WebP can be accepted by selected browser workflows, but the site does not claim that standard GPS EXIF can be embedded in those formats when the implementation cannot guarantee it.
Responsible use
Location metadata can reveal sensitive information such as where a photograph was taken. Review the coordinates and metadata before sharing an image publicly, and remove location data when you do not want it disclosed.
